Students were given the following five questions to answer about themselves 20 years from today. This is in order to help them to realize the empowerment that they have now and that they will have as adults:
En 20 années...
a) Quel age auras-tu?
b) Quel sera ton éducation?
c) Quelle sera ta carrière?
d) Quel sera ton style de vetements/cheveux?
e) Ou vivras-tu?
f) Tu seras impliqué(e) dans quels activités?
Tomorrow in class, students are going to create a self-portrait based on these answers, along with a short written piece explaining how their self-portrait shows their personal, cultural, economic, political, and social empowerment.

An update for parents of 7-5, 7-6, and 7-7
I was so happy to meet so many of you on Curriculum Night! Thank you for coming in, and for those who were unable to make it, please know that I am always available via email for any questions you may have.
I just wanted to update you as you no doubt have heard from your child that I was not in for a while - unfortunately, I had emergency surgery on October 3rd and have been home recovering for the past two weeks.
Having returned today, I found quite a bit of good work done by your students which has been left for me to mark. I ask for your understanding and patience as I work my way through it over the next week or so. I currently am having trouble accessing GradeBook but have contacted IT in order to help me with that so that you can track your child's progress.
Some of the homework was not posted on the website (subs do not have access to the homework website); however it was assigned and written on the board in the classroom. For 7-5 and 7-6 French Language Arts, I gave students one last period today to make sure that their assignment on "mon histoire unique" had all questions answered. Most students have completed this, but two or three have a couple of questions left. Please check in with your child to make sure that it's finished. We will be going to the computer lab one period this week in order to type up their final copy of the work.
7-7 will probably have one more period to complete this work before we head to the lab, however most have made it through quite a bit of the work and only have a few questions left to complete.
Again, thank you so much for your patience and understanding - I look forward to the next three weeks with your students before Mme. Archibald returns!
